Plants, Butterflies and Moths: Bringing the Savannah home to your Garden

August 22, 2021 at 10:30 am - 12:00 pm

Free

High Park is exceptional for its many habitats. From the now extirpated Karner Blue butterfly and their host lupines, to the swallowtails and silk moths of the Sassafras tree, to monarchs and milkweeds, and to the extraordinary number of moths on oak trees, we’ll look for host plants for caterpillars native to the park.

We’ll talk about where to grow them in your garden or neighborhood green space, and how Project Swallowtail can help you get seedlings or sprout your own from seeds. Your guide Clement Kent loves gardening for wildlife with native plants.

The first three walkers to ask get a free seedling!
