A look into High Park’s prescribed burns

June 5, 2022 at 10:30 am - 12:00 pm

Free
Ever wanted to know more about the prescribed burn program at High Park? Join us for a guided look at some of the burn sites that were recently completed! You’ll hear about some of the goals, achievements and process of conducting a controlled burn in an urban setting, and have an opportunity to see how a burn site looks a month after the burn day.
This walk will be led by Jaclyn Scobie, a Parks Program Office with the City of Toronto’s Urban Forestry’s Natural Resource Management unit. In this role, she leads stewardship events in High Park’s natural areas and helps promote communication and education around High Park’s natural areas. Prior to this, Jaclyn was on Urban Forestry’s field crew as a Natural Resource Worker, and has worked in ecological education at the Humber Arboretum and the Royal Botanical Gardens in Hamilton.
Meet at the benches, on the south side of Grenadier Restaurant at 10:30 a.m.
Our next walk will be on Sunday, June 19.
